AhlulBayt News Agency - Head of the Islamic Movement in 1948 Occupied Palestine, Sheikh Raed Salah, lashed out on Monday at the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, for accusing him of incitement to violence, in reference to Salah’s anti-occupation activism.
“None of your threats will stop us from speaking up against Israeli crimes in Occupied Jerusalem and the holy al-Aqsa Mosque,” said Salah in a press statement.
Sheikh Salah called on Muslims to maintain peaceful vigil at al-Aqsa and stand on guard to Israeli sacrilegious schemes.
Earlier, on Sunday evening, Netanyahu accused Sheikh Salah of incitement to violence in the holy al-Aqsa Mosque with the advent of the Jewish Passover holiday, calling on the occupation forces and Justice Minister to ban him from the city and send him to jail.
Deputy Head of the Islamic Movement, Sheikh Kamal al-Khatib, also warned of Israeli schemes to suppress Sheikh Salah’s voice and ban him from the occupied Palestinian territories.
“The Israeli occupation is very much aware of the repercussions of such moves for Sheikh Salah has become an anti-occupation icon, both nationwide and overseas,” al-Khatib noted.
An Israeli military order ruled for banning Sheikh Salah from al-Aqsa starting December 25 until June 24, 2016. Sheikh Salah is also banned by a previous court ruling, issued in 2007, from approaching within 150 meters of the Old City and the holy al-Aqsa Mosque. The IOA further slapped a travel ban on the activist.
